Champions Crowned At 300-Meter Nationals

National Champions recognized at 2022 300-Meter Rifle National Championship and Selection Match

At the 2022 300-Meter Rifle National Championship and Selection Match, held August 16-20 at the Minnetonka Game and Fish Club in Elk River, Minnesota, this year's National Champions were crowned, as shooters vied for available spots on the 300-Meter Rifle World Championship Team.

Rifle athletes competed in three events—3x20, Prone and Standard Rifle—during the four-day match.

Denise Loring, a resident of Virginia, captured the gold medal in the Women’s 3x20 event. Abigail Winegarden, of North Carolina, was the silver medalist and Michelle Bohren, of Michigan, earned the bronze medal.

Tim Sherry, a soldier in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), won the gold medal in the Men’s 3x20 event. Ivan Roe, also in the AMU, earned silver and Bradley Yliniemi, a resident of Minnesota, walked away from the championship with a bronze medal.

In the Women’s Prone event, Loring picked up another gold medal. Bohren earned silver and Winegarden was the bronze medalist.

As for the Men’s Prone event, Yliniemi picked up more hardware after winning the gold medal. Roe earned silver in the event, while Sherry was the bronze medalist.

In the 3-Position Standard Rifle event, Roe took home the gold medal, Sherry earned silver, and Yliniemi finished in third place as the bronze medalist.

As mentioned, this year's 300-Meter National Championship also served as the Selection Match for the 2022 300-Meter Rifle World Championship Team.

For the Men’s Rifle Team, Bradley Yliniemi, Ivan Roe and Tim Sherry made the cut. On the Women’s side, it was Denise Loring, Abigail Winegarden, and Michelle Bohren who qualified.
