The Hillsdale College Action Shooting Team brought home its second consecutive Scholastic Action Shooting Program College national championship this past weekend with a first-place finish in the centerfire division, as well as second place in the 1911 division.

This year's Scholastic Action Shooting Program College Nationals were held March 10-12 at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama.

Hillsdale College senior Greg Clement took first place overall in both the centerfire and 1911 divisions, and junior Zech Steiger placed second in centerfire for men. In addition, Sarah Wagoner topped the overall leaderboard in 1911 division, as well as third place in centerfire for women.

The Hillsdale College Action Shooting team triumphed over top collegiate shooting teams such as Texas A&M, Virginia Corps of Cadets and West Point. Of note—the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit has won the centerfire division at the competition since at least 2016, but Hillsdale College has now unseated them.

Springfield Armory is the sponsor of the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team, providing XD-Ms, XD-M Elites, 1911 pistols, equipment and, perhaps best of all—access to training with pro shooter and action shooting champion Rob Leatham.

“It’s an honor for us to be affiliated with such a distinguished institution, and we are extremely proud to have provided support for the pistol team, who achieved remarkable success at nationals for the second year in a row,” Springfield Armory's Vice President of Marketing, Steve Kramer, said.

“I am proud of the team’s performance in Talladega. The unwavering dedication and tireless training in the months leading up to nationals truly paid off, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results,” Adam Burlew, the head coach of the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team said.
