USA Shooting Announces 2022 National Junior Trap Team

USA Shooting named the 2022 National Junior Trap team after the second selection competition at the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center at Kerrville, Texas, March 4-6.

The top three female and male team members will compete in the Germany Junior World Cup this May.

The junior women’s team includes Ryann Phillips of Gail, Texas, who came in first with a score of 315. Second place went to Sydney Krieger of Cave Creek, Arizona, with 308, and third to Bethany High of Camilla, Georgia, with 306. In addition, Chantry Stermer of Cebolla, New Mexico, earned fourth place.

As for the junior men’s team, Emilio Carvalho of Tranquillity, California, was top shot with a score of 333, while Matthew Kutz from Goliad, Texas, scored 329 for the runner-up spot. Third went to Lance Thompson of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with 326 and Grayson Davey from Anchorage, Alaska, finished in fourth place.

In the women’s under-18 category, Heidi Griner from Florida secured the gold medal with a score of 282. Taylor Dale, a Wisconsin native, shot a 280 for second place and Shelby Sivadon from Texas won the bronze medal with a score of 272.

For the men’s under-18 category, William Browning of Ohio won gold with a score of 313. He was followed by Owen Bin of Texas, who shot a 312, and Tony Meola, from Florida, who earned third place with a score of 308.

In the women’s under-15 category, Texas native Micaela Velasquez took the gold medal with a score of 259. For the men’s under-15, Caleb Cutler, also from Texas, won a gold medal by shooting a 313, while California’s Augustus Armstrong secured himself a silver medal with a score of 303. Ajay Jarrett, also from California, placed third with a score of 263.

“USA Shooting is proud of all the athletes that competed at the selection matches,” said USA Shooting COO Sharee Waldron.

Next up for junior clay target competitors is the second round for Skeet selection taking place March 11-13 at Hill Country Shooting Sports Center in Kerrville, Texas.
